Cheryl Brown

Since 2007, Cheryl has been an advisor with the North San Diego SBDC as an expert in government procurement. She's counseled over 3,000 small businesses resulting in over $700,000,000 awarded contracts. As a small business owner herself, she brings a practical approach to counseling, moving small businesses forward through every step to achieve their goals. Her personal mission is to help small business owners create a better life for their families and the families they employ. Cheryl has a bachelor's in entrepreneurship as well as an MBA. She was awarded the Forbes School of Business and Technology Entrepreneurship Scholarship. She's also a certified Small Business Consultant from the Association of Accredited Small Business Consultants among other certifications and academic achievements. She was awarded the 2018 SBA District Director’s Award for Mission Support, 2012 ASBDC State Star for the San Diego & Imperial SBDC Network, the 2010 SBA Women in Business Champion, and has earned certificates of recognition from senators, members of congress, assemblymembers, and San Diego County supervisors.

Irma Ramos

Advisor

Irma holds dual MBAs from the University of Buckinghamshire New University in London. She specializes in finance and international business management. She went to UC San Diego and transferred to UCSC where she acquired a bachelor’s degree in political science and sociology. She also speaks Spanish and French. Irma is an SBDC advisor who teaches and provides an array of business services including entrepreneurship, business planning, lean canvas, and strategic management. She has previously owned and still manages a number of small businesses nationally and internationally. She also continues to consult and advise for her family-owned businesses and others. She previously consulted with the San Diego Hispanic Chamber of Commerce as well as worked as a business manager for Wells Fargo Bank and the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) in the United Kingdom. Irma lived in London for a few years where she acquired a broad knowledge of the world of business. Her primary focus and mission has been to make companies successful in this competitive global market.

James Kelley

Jim Kelley is a business and financial advisor with over 35 years of banking and corporate finance experience. This experience includes all aspects of bank lending including lines of credit, term loans, SBA loans, and commercial real estate loans. In addition, he has CFO experience in both small and mid-sized companies. He has a bachelor's degree in finance and accounting from San Diego State University and an executive MBA from The Pacific Coast Banking School at the University of Washington. Jim currently advises a number of companies, non-profits, and financial institutions on financial matters and risk management. He lives in Vista.

She has a diverse background including over 25 years’ experience in agency, in-house, and consultative settings across all mediums and roles, including television production, account management, sales, print, film, photography, as well as digital and newly emerging technologies – moving companies to the next plateau. Traci Cole

Traci is a business professional and entrepreneur with diverse experience in marketing strategy and branding, product development, sales, financial analysis, and consulting in organizations ranging from start-ups to large corporations and nonprofits. Within the many different roles she's had, she's been successful in and thoroughly enjoys creating solutions to challenges, a team approach, as well as connecting with clients, team members, and management. She understands the demands for concise, actionable plans which attain or exceed financial goals while simultaneously increasing the customer experience. Traci holds a bachelor's in mathematics from the University of Michigan as well as a MEM (masters of engineering management) from Northwestern (focusing on marketing and product development) and a MBA from the University of Detroit (focusing on finance). She has been an entrepreneur in the consumer products space since 2007,  and she was the marketing director at Wise IoT Solutions, a medical technology startup using AI/ML to predict HF occurrences.

The North San Diego SBDC is located in Carlsbad within MiraCosta College’s Technology Career Institute, our host facility.
